Cypriot Bichrome Wheel-made Ware is an important index for the study of interrelations in the Ancient Eastern Mediterranean World. The ware is a chronological marker for the beginning of the Late Cypriot Bronze Age and was the subject of a research project during the last decade within the Cyprus project of SCIEM 2000 (FWF, F1412). The aim of the project ws to investigate the appearance of the ware at various sites in the Eastern Mediterranean, and to correlate contexts and finds. This paper presents an overview of the regional distribution of the ware, and a detailed look at its appearance in Egypt. Based on those destributions, we develop ideas about the social role of Bichrome Wheel-made Ware.
